First Vadacurry, now Kulfi.

BANGALORE: Indo-Canadian porn star-turned-Bollywood starlet Sunny Leone is continuing her hot streak, as she takes her talents to South India to star in the upcoming Telugu picture, Kulfi.
The film will be Leone’s second foray in South Indian cinema, having already done an item number in the Tamil film Vadacurry, which is set to release later this year. Kulfi is the Telugu remake of that Tamil film, and will also feature Leone in an item number, this time donning a schoolgirl avatar.
The 33 year-old actress is currently in the midst of production on the film, which is set to hit screens later this year. She will also be seen in South Indian attire, wearing traditional saree and jewelry seen throughout the region, and made popular of late by actress Alia Bhatt from her role in the hit film 2 States.
Leone’s latest projects are continuing her recent spate of successes at the box office; a rather unlikely turn that has seen the former adult film star transition successfully from that career to becoming one of the Bollywood’s more bankable female stars. After starting out with the relatively inauspicious debut of Jism 2, an erotic thriller that garnered poor reviews, Leone has become a highly sought-after actress.
Her most recent film, Ragini MMS 2, is one of the biggest Bollywood hits of 2014 so far. The film grossed Rs. 65 crore from a budget of just Rs. 18 crore, despite middling critical reception. Her other 2014 release, Jackpot, flopped, despite co-starring screen legend Naseeruddin Shah and featuring the hit song “Kabhi Jo Badal Barse.”
Leone also celebrated her 33rd birthday recently, yet another feather in the cap of a great year that she’s been having. Her next major role will be in the Hindi film Tina and Lolo, which is set to hit screens in 2014. The film is an action movie, but details about plot and release date remain scarce.
