Akshay Kumar, Siddharth Malhotra to play lead roles.

NEW DELHI: The 2011 Hollywood film Warrior will be remade as Brothers, to be co-produced by Karan Johar.
The film will feature Akshay Kumar, Siddharth Malhotra, Jackie Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles. Kumar and Malhotra will play the lead roles as brothers in the film.
The original version had Tom Hardy, Sean McAnallen, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison, Frank Grillo and Nick Nolte in lead roles.
This is the first time that Akshay Kumar has joined hands with Karan Johar. He will be playing the part of Tom Hardy. Excited about the role and association he posted on Facebook, “My first association with Karan Johar. BROTHERS…”
The remake will be co-produced by Johar’s Dharma Productions and Lionsgate and Endemol India.
Johar took to twitter to announce about this project. He tweeted, “Dharma Productions, Lionsgate, Endemol India present ‘BROTHERS’ directed by Karan Malhotra and starring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff. Releasing Oct 2nd, 2015.”
The original film was directed by Gavin O’Connor. The story revolved around two brothers, one a former Marine and the other a former UFC fighter-turned-schoolteacher, on opposite ends of a three-way family rift stemming from their abusive childhood. Driven by their own motives, the siblings eventually find themselves competing in the same mixed martial arts tournament with the grand prize of $5 million.
Akshay Kumar’s comedy film ‘It’s Entertainment’ hit theaters recently and currently he is in Cape Town shooting for a dance reality show, ‘Dare to Dance’.
