BANGALORE: If you are eagerly waiting to make a change from the old mobile phone to a feature packed smartphone, then the time has come for you to make a move. Spice is all geared up to launch its low budget smartphone Spice Fire One MI-FX1 by the end of August.
The market of affordable smartphones in India has been booming since the entry of manufacturing companies like Lava, Karbon, Xolo and Micromax. These companies have made it a habit to release new budget smartphone models on a regular basis.
Waging a battle in this segment didn’t bring many success stories to Spice, a mobile manufacturing company that long existed before them. Now it is time for Spice to make a strong comeback, this time in the low budget smartphone segment with the release of the latest smartphone Spice Fire One MI-FX1.
If you are wondering what difference the Spice Fire One MI-FX1 has when compared with other smartphones in India, the most highlighted answer will be the excitement over the new features offered by Mozilla OS, which is making its debut in India.
The phone will be launched in India markets on August 29 at an incredibly low price of just Rs. 2,299, approximately $38.
When looking at Spice MI smartphone by technical features, it is never a good contender with other Android phones as the company cannot do much magic in a phone that comes at such a low price. But Spice has successfully built a low budget 2G dual SIM Mozilla smartphone phone, powered with a 1 Gh processor, which is a bare minimum to run Firefox OS.
The other features of Spice Fire One MI-FX1 include 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen coupled with rear and front cameras of 2 and 1.3 megapixels, respectively. In addition to these, Spice Fire One MI-FX1 also supports a hand full of Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil and Bengali with preloaded Facebook and Connect A2 apps.
The users can install many more apps from the Mozilla Marketplace, which is Mozilla’s version of Google Play and App Store.
Prashant Bindal, the CEO of Spice India, said in a statement, “With the ultra-low cost Spice Fire One, we at Spice, aim to convert the feature phone users into smartphone users, thereby, aiding them with the power of the internet. This partnership with Mozilla showcases our commitment to providing the best technological innovations first hand to our customers.”
Till now Mozilla Firefox OS has had very little impact among smartphone users but when Spice Fire One MI-FX1 hits the Indian market the company expects to tap a segment of low budget smartphone users which has largely went unnoticed by other smartphone manufacturers. If everything goes in the right direction, there will be a rising of yet another class of smartphone users in India.
