BANGALORE: After garnering overwhelming response for the Mi3 smartphone in India, Xiaomi is taking full advantage of the buzz surrounding their brand.
This time the Chinese mobile manufacturers are unveiling Redmi 1S, the budget level smartphone that is expected to maximize the hype created by its predecessor, Xiaomi Mi3.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be officially launched tomorrow, on Tuesday.
According to the official website of Xiaomi, Redmi 1S will be available at an affordable price of Rs. 5,999. Flipkart has the sole authorization to sell Redmi 1S in India, that too through flash sales. The specs of Redmi 1S is excellent when compared to many other smartphones in the same price range, including Moto G. The phone has a 1280×720 display with 312 ppi powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, supported by a 1 GB Ram to run apps smoothly.
Xiaomi Redmi 1S also features a flash memory of 8 GB, expandable up to 64 GB using a microSD card slot, thus giving more room for music and videos. A 2000mAh removable battery gives the users a great backup for the phone, all day long. Adding to this Xiaomi Redmi 1S has an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.6 MP front camera. The connectivity features of the phone include GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Just like its predecessor Xiaomi Mi3, Redmi 1S’s specifications and design is in tune with some of the premium smartphones in its price category. The control options including volume rockers and the power button comes on the right side of the phone whereas the OTG female jack comes to the top.
Xiaomi smartphones run on a customized version of Android OS named MIUI, which seems to look like an altogether new operating system. Xiaomi claims MIUI OS is a bug free and refined version of Android that receives new update to make the smartphone secure and smooth.
With Xiaomi making inroads into Indian smartphone market and its technical specifications pushed to higher levels, other smartphone manufacturers have some work to do to catch up.
As this new dual SIM phone from Xiaomi hits the Indian stores, what concerns the prospective buyers is the service offered by the company in case of physical or software damage. The users of Xiaomi Mi3 had complained about the poor service by Flipkart to resolve issues. If the Chinese manufacturers crack down on this issue, Xiaomi Redmi 1S will become an instant hit.
