BANGALORE: After bidding an official bye-bye to Nokia brand of smartphones, Microsoft is planning to launch its first Microsoft Lumia handset in the market in less than a week.
The tech giant has kick-started a new social media campaign with hashtag #MoreLumia that includes a teaser of the new gadget, which will be unveiled on Tuesday, November 11.
The official post of Microsoft has promised that the new Lumia smartphone will “deliver the power of everyday mobile technology to everyone”.
Though the teaser provides only a sketchy preview of the new Microsoft Lumia, the device, orange in color, looks sturdy. The company had earlier revealed the rear preview of the device, which was also in orange, revealing the Microsoft logo in black.
Interestingly Microsoft has not used its brand name Lumia in the logo, but it is still too early to predict whether the company will do away with the Lumia brand name in the exterior of the new smartphone.
Tuula Rytilä, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Phones at Microsoft said “we are looking forward to unveiling a Microsoft Lumia device soon. This is, of course, a natural progression as all devices that once came from Nokia now come from Microsoft.”
She also added that “the Lumia promise of great phone experiences will remain the same as our customers have come to know and love. What’s more, Lumia phones will also showcase the best of Microsoft’s services such as Office, OneDrive, Skype and Bing to help customers with their work and personal lives.”
The tech giant is currently in the process of changing the brand name of all high-end Nokia smartphones to Microsoft. From now on only the entry level phones will feature the Nokia name and logo.
