Chopra is a star in India, but will America take to her?

WASHINGTON, DC: “Quantico”, an upcoming action-thriller series about a group of FBI trainees who are put through the ringer at the bureau’s training facility and then faced with a terrorist attack of a magnitude that has not been seen since the attacks on September 11, marks Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s first foray into American television.
It has thus far been well received by her peers and critics back home in India.
The show’s trailer heavily features Chopra’s character — named Alex Parrish — and double-taps sexual tropes early on in order to establish an unyieldingly candid tone of stark realism. It also drew strength from the manner in which the narrative is foreshadowed, promising a tangled web of secrets that threatens to ensnare Chopra’s character in a quagmire of lies, deceit, and conspiracy.
However, some of the dialogue between Chopra and her co-stars fall remarkably flat and felt somewhat lifeless, which prompts questions concerning its palatability over a season-long haul and whether the show’s writing has the potential to stagnate.
On the other hand, “It’s very scary, because I don’t know if the world is ready for an Indian protagonist, Chopra stated during an interview with DNA India. “When I did NFL, and ‘In My City’ was picked for NFL, it was the opening song after Faith Hill. Several racist comments came my way, that I am an Arab terrorist on social media and the NFL network, they had people writing to them. Because I was brown, they figured I’m Arab, and people were like, ‘How can you have her headlining an American event? Why is she in an all-American sport?’ So, I don’t know how people will react especially since I’m playing an American from India,” she remarked.
Chopra is joined on the “Quantico” set by Yasmine Al Massri as hijab-wearing Nimah, Dougray Scott as Liam, Jake McLaughlin as Ryan, Aunjanue Ellis as Miranda, Johanna Braddy as Shelby, Tate Ellington as Simon, and Graham Rogers as Caleb.
“I remember when I was growing up, I didn’t see anyone who looked like me in global pop culture,” Chopra said. “In today’s time, Rihanna is from the Islands, David Guetta is from Sweden — today’s pop culture reflects global diversity and I want to be part of that,” she then emphasized.

She is probably the most talented and uninhibited actress (comedy sketches in award shows) in India, but her looks and talent does not translate well in this series. Her voice does not project well and acting is bland. Her role diminishes her stature than enhancing and in fact it is degrading
The type of role she is offered does not help her cause either. Not to mention this is another crap on alphabet channel that is driving viewers to cancel their cable. I question the longevity of these type of shows. She should find a better representation in Hollywood since this demeaning role is not the way to make her debut.
Raif , you are just another looser venting out your frustration.
who are you?
she is former miss world :P
national award winning actress…and if you think she cant act,you should watch “Barfi”…or you can also watch Dostana or Fashion :)
My comment was against Raif Karerat, the author of this article, and not for PC. PC is my favorite. I don’t watch bollywood movies, but I watch any movie with PC or Big B.
As for Priyanka, how dashing she looks with bare minimum makeup in Quantico trailer. Her presence itself makes every other thing around fade into oblivion. She’s awesome..!!
