Yoga Day loses out to Father’s Day and solstices.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have moved the world in getting the United Nations to declare an International Yoga Day, but he hasn’t had much luck when it comes to the Lord of the Internet: Google.
Unfortunately, for Modi and yoga enthusiasts, the first International Yoga Day fell on a popular holiday and two solstices.
June 21 is Father’s Day in the United States, India, United Kingdom and more than 70 other countries.

Sunday also happens to be the Summer Solstice, or the first day of the summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere.
So Google obviously went with these three traditions, which have a much longer history, even though the Yoga Day is celebrated in more countries — over 175.
The Father’s Day Doodle, which is seen in dozens of countries across the world, was created by Doodler Olivia Huynh. It “represents the universality of familial love,” according to the artist.
Here is the Summer Solstice Doodle.
The countries where the Doodle appears include Russia, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Iceland, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Taiwan.
The Winter Solstice Doodle is seen only in Brazil.
Both solstice Doodles are creations of guest artist Kirsten Lepore.
In 2016, Father’s Day in the United States falls on June 19th and the two solstices on June 20th. So Yoga Day won’t have to compete with them to have a Google Doodle.

Google needs to change its colonial mentality
Europeans and Americans (they are actually Europeans settled in the USA) are still living in the colonial age. Dangerous.

Shame on google perception towards India and its culture…literally this was not expected from google…very shameful…
I agree , google purposely not added Yoga day doodle.
The writer of this article is a piece of g arbage. Who gives a f k about some doodle?
Maybe because in the Indian parliament the ruling party has 186 murderers and rapists.
Are you one of the victim??? I feel pity for you. Its obvious if you talk like this, soon somebody is going to F U again
Google Is Biased, Dis Respect to Indians. True color of Google is out now. When there was a cricket match between India and Pak, India and Bangladesh, they unnecessarily made a Doodle. Why not the YOGA DAY DOODLGE at google.co.in ? It is a clear message given to all internet users.
