WASHINGTON, DC: The same pastor who made national headlines last year when he held a suspected thief at gunpoint has come to the rescue again, this time shooting a man who broke in the Church of New Beginnings in Baytown, Texas.
Police say Pastor Benny Holmes was at the church sometime after 6:00 a.m. when he heard a man trying to break into the building. Holmes then armed himself and shot the intruder, according to ABC 13 News.
The burglary suspect, identified as Lee Marvin Blue, 27, was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is in stable condition after suffering a single gunshot wound to the shoulder. Records indicate Blue is a transient with a rap sheet that includes car burglaries and public intoxication.
Baytown police told local news station KHOU that Pastor Holmes is known to them because he helped them out last year.
“We had several UPS packages that were in front of people’s homes and they were mysteriously disappearing,” said Det. Luzette Watkins of Baytown Police Dept. “Pastor Holmes happened to have the camcorder set up in front of his house. He actually caught the lady and restrained her until police could arrive.”
At the time, he said pointing his .45 caliber pistol at the grandmother was the only way he would get her to feel the fear of God, reported ABC. Holmes even prepared a sermon after the incident, telling his congregation that God said to arm yourself.
“The Bible tells us that we’re not to steal, and if we do, steal no more. But eventually you’re going to get caught and that’s what she did, she got caught and now she has to pay the price,” Holmes said to Houston’s KPRC about the suspect after last year’s incident.

But of course, this pastor should be arrested and charged with assault and attempted murder, but of course he will be treated as a hero instead. Pity
