An Indian American has been sentenced to 11 years in jail for misappropriating hundreds of thousands of dollars from a former employer.
Santhosh Thomas, 51, who worked as the CFO of Westmont- based Collaborative Learning Inc. from March 2006 till January 2007, was alleged of misappropriating more than $500,000 belonging to the company, reports Daily Herald.
Thomas pleaded guilty of the misuse on Jan. 7, 2008, but failed to appear before court. Later he was arrested in Houston, Texas and brought to DuPage County jail. He was sentenced to eight years for the stealing and additional three-years for skipping bail. He also was ordered to repay the misappropriated amount to the company.
In a written statement, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said, “Today’s sentencing sends a strong message that if you are found guilty of a crime in DuPage County you will be held responsible. You cannot outrun the law.”
