WASHINGTON, DC: The 4th Annual Washington, DC, South Asian Film Festival 2015 (DCSAFF) will be held at the AMC Loews Rio Cinemas in Gaithersburg, MD, from September 25th to 27th.
Hosted by Ceasar Productions, the festival will screen about 35 alternative motion pictures including documentaries from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
DCSAFF 2015 will open with a red carpet event on September 25, and on Sept 27 there will be an awards function.
One of the features of the festival will be a special tribute to well-known Indian filmmaker and actor late Rituparno Ghosh, a press release from Ceasar Productions said.
Actress Raima Sen will lead the tribute to Ghosh, a national award winning director, whose film “Chitagandaga” would also be screened on the occasion.
Special guests will include, besides Raima Sen, actor and director Anant Mahadevan, actresses Aparna Sen, Raima Sen and Konkana Sen Sharma.
As some of these films are independent art films which are not released commercially, the festival gives a rare opportunity to enjoy them. Post the screening, the audience will have a chance to have Q&A sessions with directors and actors.
On 27th, the last day, closing ceremonies will include an Awards Celebration Gala, where popular Indian American standup comedian Vijai Nathan will perform.
