Calibre Systems, an Alexandria, Virginia-based employee-owned management consulting and information technology solutions company, has acquired the health and life sciences, and defense and public sector groups of Information Management Consultants (IMC), based in Reston, Virginia.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition was closed on August 31.
IMC, a provider of health informatics, enterprise content management, and information technology solutions to federal government and commercial organizations, was founded by Indian American Sudhakar Shenoy.
“We are very happy to have found an acquirer in Calibre whose leadership, prominence, and dedication to quality is second to none”, said Shenoy, who is also the Chairman and CEO of IMC, said in a press release.
“We are thrilled that our employees will now be part of a company that is equally employee friendly and dedicated to fulfilling the missions and goals of our clients, and will also offer employees an opportunity to grow and prosper in the coming days,” he added.
Shenoy, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology-Mumbai, founded IMC in 1981. His brother and fellow IIT alumnus Suresh Shenoy was the company’s Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing.
About 80 percent IMC’s business was in the healthcare world, Sudhakar Shenoy said in a lecture at Longwood University delivered in February 2012.
According to the company’s LinkedIn profile, it had between 201 and 500 employees and nearly one third of its “consultants hold a PhD and/or the highest scientific degree.”
“This acquisition combines the complementary expertise of our two companies in federal and commercial markets,” said Joe Martore, President & CEO of Calibre.
“We look forward to the IMC employees joining the Calibre team to create an even more trusted partner for current and new clients,” he added.
The acquired assets will become one of Calibre’s five operating divisions, the release said. Dorisa Harris will assume the leadership role for the new Calibre Information Management Consulting Division.
