Saks Fifth Avenue store chain has appointed Indian American fashion consultant Roopal Patel as its fashion director.
Patel’s expertise in trend forecasting and her previous experiences will help the retailer in retaining a current image and strengthen its shopping experience, luxurydaily.com reported.
Earlier to this, Patel was running her own company, Roopal Patel Consulting, which she founded in 2012.
As a fashion director, Patel will be instrumental in selecting trends to stock, creating a story for each season and finding new designers and collections, the report said.
This appointment comes as a result of top level leadership overhaul at Saks, which, as a retailer, is facing challenges in many fronts. The other top level changes include the appointments of Marc Metrick as its president and Tracy Margolies as the chief merchant.
“Roopal is a respected force in the industry with high energy and a deep understanding of today’s luxury fashion consumer, and we are so pleased to welcome her to Saks,” Metrick was quoted as saying.
“I am confident that her demonstrated expertise in trend direction combined with Tracy’s leadership in fashion merchandising will be invaluable as we continue to elevate the brand and position Saks as a modern and relevant fashion authority in luxury retailing,” he added.
Previously, Patel worked with Neiman Marcus Group for more than a decade. She also worked as a senior fashion director at Moda Operandi before founding her own Luxury Fashion consulting company in 2012.
