The much-awaited Prakash Jha movie ‘Jai Gangaajal’s theatrical trailer, which released on Tuesday, portrays a stunning looking Priyanka Chopra essaying the role of the central character of a policewoman, SP Abha Mathur.
The film features the challenges of a woman in the police force and how she fearlessly fights corrupt forces and criminals.
Director Jha debuts as an actor with ‘Jai Gangaajal’, playing the role of a cop. The movie is a sequel of Gangaajal released in the year 2003, in which Ajay Devgan played the lead role.
Talking about her role in the movie, Chopra had earlier said to The Hindustan Times that, “I am playing a cop. It is a very special film, not because of the role. I am playing what Ajay Devgn played in the first part. It is just that the issue has changed. We are highlighting corruption, land mafia, farmer suicides and how people are forced to kill themselves. It is a great story. Prakash Jha is the best person to tell this -phenomenal story. He is very educated. Women cops are not taken seriously … It is a relevant film.”
Quantico star Chopra has now strong US appeal too after her appearance on network television, with her continuing role as Alex Parrish, one of a diverse group of new FBI recruits, each with a mysterious past.
‘Jai Gangaajal’ is set to release in theaters on March 4, 2016.
