Shruti Hassan has been having a wonderful time in the entertainment industry for the last few years. After the success of her 2015 blockbuster movie Srimanthudu, the actress is now making headlines for her song Rehnuma with John Abraham in the movie Rocky Handsome, which is currently one of the trending songs on YouTube.
It seems like the actress is in on a roll as the latest news coming from the Tollywood industry suggests that Sruthi has completed the shooting for her 2016 release Premam – a Telugu remake of the hugely popular Malayalam movie by the same name.
The Telugu version of Premam will have Naga Chaitanya in the lead role. Shruti Hassan will play the role of a graduate teacher, who falls in love with a student – played by Chaitanya.
In addition to Shruti Hassan, the movie also features two other female leads, Anupama Parameshwaran and singer turned actress Madonna Sebastien – both were part of the Malayalam version of the film.
“The first look of the film has generated tremendous interest and the makers want to wrap it up early so that they can release it this summer. Despite a busy schedule, Shruti wrapped up her part for Premam. She’s looking glamorous and the scenes have come out really well,” said a source from the film’s unit to The Indian Express.
The movie Premam released in 2015 was a blockbuster hit in Malayalam and the role of the teacher, “Malar”, played by Sai Pallavi is one character that could stand the test of time.
Now, when the same movie is re-created in Telugu, Shruti Hassan expects to deliver a performance in par with her Malayalam counterpart.
The success of the Malayalam movie Premam is a precedent for how to cater to the changing mindset of the youth. If the Telugu version of the movie follows the same pattern, there is a high possibility that the team of Premam Telugu could also reap success.
