Indian forces on alert as violence escalates in Kashmir.

A violent mob protesting the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani in Kashmir attacked the wife and daughter of a police officer after storming into their house in Pulwama district, reported Press Trust of India.
The wife and daughter of Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ashraf Pal were beaten up by a mob in Awantipora area causing minor injuries to both.
“A mob attacked the house of Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ashraf Pal at Chandrigam and beat up his wife and daughter. Both were injured in the attack,” a police official told PTI.
The injured were taken to Sub District Hospital Awantipora and are said to be in stable condition. The mob also caused damage to the house.
Pal was not at home while the incident happened as he was appointed at Sangam police post in Bibjehara area of Anantnag district.
The police officers in the valley have been targeted by the protesters after the killing of militant Wani on July 8. He had wielded considerable influence on the local populace.
Kashmir is witnessing a riot-like situation as the protestors are attacking the military in retaliation for the killing of Wani. So far, 25 people have died in the wake of Wani’s death.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting to review the situation in Kashmir. Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval attended the meeting.
