The Ministry of Communication launched Twitter Seva service for registering complaints related with telecom and postal services on Tuesday.
The users can directly file a complaint with the ministry using the Twitter handle @manojsinhabjp. Communications minister Manoj Sinha inaugurated the service on Tuesday.
“Complaints received against any telecom operator and Department of Post (DOP) on my Twitter handle will be communicated to the concerned telecom operator and DOP immediately for quick resolution and better service,” Sinha said.
The ministry officials will have access to the complaints filed through Twitter Seva and the complaints will be categorized into immediate, mid-term and long-term. This will help the officials to respond to the complaints effectively.
The minister said that the initiative is a step towards achieving the prime minister’s vision of “minimum government, maximum governance.” The aim of the government is to provide a transparent and efficient administration to the people.
“I hope both governments, Private Telecom service provider make use of this tool fullest to its potential to serve the customer,” Sinha said.
Twitter Seva is considered as a big challenge to the ministry as India has already more than 1 billion of mobile phone users. “Therefore, we are aware that complaints are going to pour in from across the country and in great numbers. But I would like to assure you that the Ministry will rise up to this challenge,” he added. The minister also raised concerns over the chances of the service being misused.
