Earlier, Devgn posted an audio clip of an alleged telephonic conversation between ‘Shivaay’ producer and KRK
Karan Johar has decided to stay away from the controversy following Ajay Devgn’s accusation of paying self-styled critic Kamaal R Khan to promote ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ on social media and to criticize Ajay’s film’ Shivaay’.
“My self-respect, reputation, company reputation and my upbringing doesn’t allow me to dignify this question with a response,” Karan answered a direct question about his involvement in KRK-Devgn controversy at an event convened by The Indian Express.
The controversy started when rumours that KRK reportedly accepted Rs 25 lakh for Karan Johar to badmouth ‘Shivaay’ circulated on social media. Backing it with a proof, Ajay Devgn posted an audio clip of an alleged telephonic conversation between ‘Shivaay’ producer Kumar Mangat and KRK.
Later, Devgn even issued a statement to confirm how KRK was dissing ‘Shivaay’, saying that the movie will falter against AKHM.
“I have been a part of the Indian film industry for the past 25 years and have been associated with over 100 films. My father was a professional action director and I have an emotional connection with this industry. It therefore pains me to see that people like Kamaal R Khan are holding the film industry to ransom by spreading negativity about films to extort money from producers. It is very sad that people from our own industry are supporting such elements and spoiling the ethos of the film industry. I would strongly demand that this be thoroughly investigated by competent authorities to clarify if Karan Johar was indeed involved in this,” he said.
In his defence, KRK wrote a series of tweets and said Karan never offered him any money. He even turned the tables and revealed that it was actually Devgn who offered him the same amount to bash AKHM, but he refused.
