22 executives of Indian companies gathered at NY Consulate.

NEW YORK: The Consulate General of India, New York, hosted an Interactive Business meeting with CEOs and Regional Heads of Public Sector Units and Indian companies based on the East Coast.
The interactive session was attended by 22 executives from financial, information technology and travel trade.
Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Acting Consul General, New York, welcomed the attendees to the first of series of upcoming interactive sessions. She gave an overview of the Indian government’s priorities and focus in the area of economic cooperation with the US government. She also inquired individual companies of their future plans, priorities and challenges in doing business in the United States.
Some of the prominent points of discussion were: Travel advisories; slowing down of economy and inflows of foreign funds to India; Indian government’s approach toward investors/businesses going to India; positive India branding with US media, especially regarding IT success story and creation of jobs in the US market; H-1B quotas and processing time, new immigration laws impacting Indian students and professionals.
Khobragade assured the gathering that these issues will be highlighted to relevant departments/ministries in India and the US government. Participants assured her that they will send in necessary information for a follow-up discussion.
