MUMBAI: A Zero Dark Thirty is being made in India, with a comical twist.
After the 2010 farcical comedy ‘Tere Bin Laden’, directed by Abhishek Sharma, a sequel tentatively titled as ‘Tere Bin Laden 3’, focusing on the terrorist’s assassination in Abbottabad, Pakistan, is currently being filmed at Film City, here.
The genuine look and feel of the environment of the Pakistani district is being taken care of by recreating the place in meticulous detail. The set has been designed and constructed by Production Designer Wasiq Khan. According to the director of the film, the story depicting both the American and Pakistani forces is narrated in a satirical way, similar to its prequel.
The set’s reconstruction is a result of months of intensive research by production designers. VFX technology has helped to create the deadly chopper, Black Hawk, used by USA’s Navy team called as Navy SEAL (Sea, Air and Land) in the hunt.
Earlier, a similar helicopter was created using Computer Graphics (CG) for Kathryn Bigelow’s 2012 thriller ‘Zero Dark Thirty.’ Nominated for five Oscars, it eventually won an Oscar for Best Sound Editing.
Osama Bin Laden, the world’s most-wanted terrorist was shot dead on May 2, 2011, putting an end to a decade long manhunt.
The sequel, set to release in 2014, is produced by Pooja Shetty of Walkwater Media and casts Manish Paul and Sikandar Kher in lead roles. Ali Zafar will be seen in a cameo avatar while Pradhuman Singh will reprise his old role as the character Osama Bin Laden.
