MUMBAI: Bollywood actors playing heroic roles such as a cop thrashing bad guys or a teen in college trying to woo the opposite gender is something that audiences have watched umpteen times on screen. But, famous personalities coming on the small screen and playing the role of a common man to portray their struggling lives is uncommon.
Such an unheard concept is about to become a reality with Colors’ channel’s upcoming new series titled ‘Mission Sapne.’ The program is a unique blend of drama and entertainment where celebrities from different walks of life like cinema, sports, singing, will play the role of aam aadmi (common man) and face the hardships borne by them. The funds generated from the show will be used to fulfil the needs and wants of those common men.
Actors Salman Khan and Varun Dhawan, cricketer Harbhajan Singh and singer Mika Singh have shown an initiative to be a part of the series. While Khan will be in the shoes of a roadside tea vendor, newbie Dhawan will sell fish and be seen as a ‘patiwala’ (laborer). The amount cashed in by both will, respectively, go to a family of a tea vendor and a fishermsn.
Dhawan, who has already shot his part at Mumbai’s Crawford market, posted his images in the new avatar on Twitter and tweeted, “No no it’s just a thought guys I became a patiwala for a day and worked in Crawford market it really moved me.”
Harbhajan Singh will reprise the role of a biscuit-seller, for which he is currently shooting in Chandigarh.
The show will be a SoBo Films production which will be telecast in the next few months. Smruti Shinde, Director of Sobo Films, said in an interview, “The show has an exciting approach towards showcasing the burdens in the life of a common man through the eyes of a celebrity as they work hard to generate funds. Through Mission Sapne, we aim to convey to Indian audiences that no person should be looked down upon and that the smallest achievements deserve to be cherished in the grandest manner.”
