MUMBAI: She won millions of hearts with just a single dialogue from her debut film Dabangg (2011), ‘Thapad se darr nahi lagta saab, pyaar se lagta hai’ (Slap on face doesn’t scare me, love does), which shot Sonakshi Sinha to fame even before the film released. Then, there was no looking back for her with film and brand endorsement offers pouring in and garnering several awards.
Sinha’s critically acclaimed performance in last year’s ‘Lootera’ has seemingly wowed producers in New York too. According to unconfirmed media reports in the Indian media, a New York-based theater group has approached her for a significant role in their upcoming stage adaptation of O Henry’s ‘The Last Leaf’, which provided the theme for ‘Lootere’.
“I’m taken aback. I am considering taking it up as it’s (the production) very opulent. I’m working around my dates, so let’s see,” said Sinha in an interview.
Sinha also wants to act in Hollywood.
“The West works very differently from how we work here,” she says.
According to her, Indian films are customised to the thinking pattern and ideas of Indian audiences.
The Dadasaheb Phalke awardee has some favourite Hollywood genres on which she is keen to work on like animation, kid’s or fantasy based movies. Sinha, a trained fashion designer, who plays safe with respect to attire, would not step out of her comfort zone even in Hollywood and wants her family to see each film of hers.
