MUMBAI: During the start of his career, megastar Amitabh Bachchan was rejected by All India Radio (AIR) as a newsreader, on the excuse that his voice was too heavy and not appealing enough. Today, the same voice is what every filmmaker or brand craves for and wants to make a part of their project.
Now, after lending his voice for a six-minute video made on the recently inaugurated Terminal 2 of Mumbai Airport, the star’s voice has been encapsulated in a documentary made on Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the 50-year old anti-corruption agency.
The film is produced as a part of the Bureau’s silver jubilee celebrations, which was formed on April 1, 1963. Kabir Bedi, another popular voice in the film and TV industry, has dubbed the English version of the documentary whereas Big B has the Hindi version to his name.
The voice over by Bachchan for the 21-minute documentary was completed last Saturday. Apparently, the professionalism and technicality of the Bureau left the star stunned. He tweeted, “Doing a documentary voice-over on the CBI … Amazed at the professional and technical brilliance of this institution.”
The documentary showcases the operating pattern of the Bureau, covering its investigations work, forensics, legal plans and much more.
“This film reveals many unknown aspects of the CBI and dispels common prejudices and misperceptions. It brings into focus the continuing fight against corruption through the experienced voices of dedicated officers, who stand on the frontlines of justice”, said Kanchan Prasad, CBI publicist.
In addition to above features, the film documents other aspects too like its work on the Commonwealth Games, 2G and coal blocks allocation scams.
Prasad added that the documentary is a testimony to high-profile cases that had captured the media all over to lengthy investigations; making it a combination of persistence, bravery and conviction.
