Singing sensation Cam Anthony to be special guest.

WASHINGTON, DC: First Lady Michelle Obama has invited Miss America Nina Davuluri to the White House’s upcoming Easter celebration, along with Indian American chef Maneet Chauhan.
The main festivity that Davuluri will take part in is the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, which is the largest public event held at the White House. This will be the 136th iteration of the famous event, in which children push eggs through a course on the lawn the White House by using long-handled spoons.
Additionally, Davuluri will participate in the Storytime Stage, in which several celebrities and guests of honor will read to the assembled children. Some 30,000 people are expected to attend the festivities at the White House this year, along with several well-known names.
Chauhan will be one of the event’s chief chefs, alongside Alexandra Guarnaschelli, Sam Kass, Marc Murphy, Charles Phan, Super Sprowtz, and the cast of the hit Disney Channel show, “Jessie.” All of them will cook delicious, but healthy, meals, as part of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” initiative.
Michelle Obama has long been an advocate for mitigating childhood obesity and getting kids active, and she hopes to use the annual Easter celebration at the White House to further that cause. This year’s event will operate under the theme of “Hop Into Healthy, Swing Into Shape.”
Actor Jim Carrey will be present during the event, as will “former NFL player and NASA astronaut Leland Melvin, DJ Lance Rock, Debby Ryan from the Disney Channel’s Jessie and Sesame Street’s Mando, Rosita, Abby Cadabby, and Cookie Monster,” according to a White House press release. This year’s special guest is Cam Anthony, a 12 year-old “singing sensation” who will render the National Anthem and perform live.
The Easter celebration will also attendees to play sports at the White House, and several athletes have been invited to attend. As an avid basketball fan, President Barack Obama has secured some of the biggest names, both past and present, of the NBA to come to the White House, including Dikembe Mutombo, and Michael Carter-Williams. NFL stars like Dwight Freeney and local hero Robert Griffin III will also be in attendance.
The White House’s annual Easter event will take place on Monday, April 21, and will be an all-day affair. Those interested in attending are encouraged to visitthe White House website for more information.
