From Thakoon to Burberry.

WASHINGTON, DC: Indian actress Freida Pinto made a splash in Washington, DC this past weekend, turning heads with her stunning sense of fashion at two gala events in the nation’s capital.
Saturday night, May 3, was the 2014 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, an annual event that turns Pennsylvania Avenue into Hollywood. Everyone from “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara to recent Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o were in attendance, as was Pinto. The Slumdog Millionaire star turned heads in an elegant pink dress designed by Thakoon.
On Sunday, Pinto was present at the White House’s Annual Garden Brunch, where she donned another pink outfit. This time, Pinto dressed herself in a Burberry number, with a translucent white top and pink skirt. The Indian beauty also wore Jimmy Choo shoes, showing that she knows how to work the runway at any venue.
Pinto will be seen at several high-profile events over the coming months. Perhaps the biggest of all is the 67th Cannes Film Festival, which Pinto will attend along with a number of Indian-origin actresses and celebrities. Those names include Aishwarya Rai, who’s become something of a staple at Cannes in recent years, and Sonam Kapoor.
Pinto is no stranger to fashion, either, having been dressed by some of the biggest names in the industry since making her film debut with Slumdog Millionaire in 2008. She is a brand ambassador for L’Oreal, and was also chosen as the face for Estee Lauder in 2009.
Later this year, she will be seen in the film Desert Dancer, a British picture that tells the real-life story of a group of people who tried to introduce dancing in Iran, during a time in which dancing was banned. Additionally, she is set to appear in the film Knight of Cups, the latest work from renowned Hollywood auteur Terrance Mallick (The Tree of Life). She will appear alongside Christian Bale (The Dark Knight).
Pinto currently lives in Los Angeles with her boyfriend and Slumdog Millionaire co-star, Dev Patel.
