BANGALORE: As promised by Motorola Mobility last week, a new Android phone will be in the Indian market by May 13.
Although the US-based company did not reveal the name of the device, according to leaks from various sources, the smartphone that Motorola plans to launch is going to be known as Moto E.
The smartphone will officially be introduced during two press events; the first in London, the second in New Delhi. According to AndroidOS, Motorola Moto E will be available for purchase the moment it goes official.
That is not all. Motorola Moto E was recently seen on the Indian import data website Zauba. With it were its model numbers and approximate price tag. It seems like there will be three Moto E variants that will be launched on May 13, though it is still unclear as to whether all will be available in the Indian market.
The Moto E single-SIM variant is listed at Zauba as Motorola XT1021, and the dual SIM version is known as XT1022. A third Moto E model featuring dual-SIM with digital TV and is codenamed as Motorola XT1025.
Motorola has previously claimed to its fans that the Moto E was to be a smartphone that would be affordable for everyone and the information from Zauba confirms this claim. This handset will be even cheaper than the Moto G, which is very popular among the fans of Android in India.
The listed price for the Moto E on Zauba put the price somewhere between Rs. 7,999 ($130) and 8,499 ($140).
It makes perfect sense to put different price tags given that there are to be different handsets in the market. Soon enough, there will be even more models of the Moto E coming to the market.
But before that the users need to see if the product meets their expectations. Hope it turns out to be all that it claims to be.
