Jacqueline Fernandez to launch restaurant in Sri Lanka

Side businesses are a part of B-Town celebrities.

BANGALORE: Former model and Bollywood starlet Jacqueline Fernandez is going to launch her own restaurant in Colombo this month. The Sri Lankan beauty recently bought an island off the coast of Sri Lanka and now she is venturing into her own business.

A source close to Fernandez told Mid-Day that the restaurant will be launched this month.

“Despite having a busy schedule, Jacqueline is taking a keen interest in this project. She is also going to design the interiors of the place, as the restaurant will reflect her style and personality. In fact, many of Sri Lanka’s Who’s Who are expected to attend the launch,” the source was quoted as saying.

Fernandez confirmed this news, adding “I have always wanted to open my restaurant, but I could not get down to it in all these years. Now I am excited about finally realizing my dreams. I am quite looking forward to the project.”

Fernandez may be venturing into a side-business for the first time, but it is nothing new for the big names in Bollywood. Here is a look at some of the biggest celebrities and their side-ventures.

Amitabh Bachchan – Big B owns Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL), a Marathi and Hindi filmmaking company. They produced films like Aks, Viruddh and Paa.

Shah Rukh Khan – King Khan co-owns IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is also the owner of Red Chillies Entertainment. Actor Juhi Chawla is a partner in both these ventures. Director Farah Khan co-owns Red Chillies. Also owning IPL teams are Bollywood celebrities like Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty.

Salman Khan – Salman recently started a film production company called Salman Khan Production.  Before that he co-produced multiple films with his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, many of which starred himself or his brothers. Salman is also the CEO of his NGO “Human Being.”

Aamir Khan – He is the owner of Aamir Khan Productions that has given us so many quality films like Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par and Delhi Belly.

Suniel Shetty – This hunk of Bollywood has a garments company which is also into imports and exports. The company’s turnover is in millions every year.

Twinkle Khanna – She runs a candle business with her mother Dimple Kapadia. Don’t think small, these candles cost 100 bucks or more a piece and are also exported.

Ajay Devgn – He has invested in a 25mw solar power plant in Gujarat. And he has his own production company “Devgan Entertainment Software Ltd”.

Mithun Chakraborty – The Disco Dancer has a chain of five star restaurants, the first of which started in Ooty.
