A sex education class changed her perspective, for a while at least.

WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent post on her own personal blog, Duke University student turned porn starlet Miriam Weeks described an incident from earlier in life that nearly scared her away from engaging in pre-martial sex.
In her blog entry, which got posted online earlier this month, Weeks describes an incident in middle school, in which she and her other classmates at a Catholic-majority school were given a seminar in sexual education. This included statements that pre-marital sex would make women less attractive for marriage, that just about any kind of sex will automatically lead to contracting a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), and that birth control methods cause cancer.
Weeks also claims that her teachers essentially told girls to protect their virginities and keep away from sex at all costs, while telling the boys that it’s ok for men to go out and try to be intimate with girls, creating a double-standard that society still clings to, at least in her eyes. Weeks even wrote that many girls became emotionally distraught by these lessons, as they had already lost their virginities by that point.
Scared away from sex (she abstained from masturbation for a year), Weeks – who goes by the porn name Belle Knox – eventually realized that sex was not something to be feared, but to be embraced. Weeks, who has become a loud voice for female empowerment since making her porn career public a few months ago, has lambasted the idea that women must protect their bodies and keep away from sex, arguing that sexual urges are natural and even healthy.
Weeks is obviously no stranger to such things, having made a number of pornographic films over the last year to help her pay for her massive college tuition obligations at Duke University. She had made appearances on Huffington Post, CNN, and other major news networks preaching about increased awareness for sex workers and encouraging women to explore their sexuality.
Whether or not Weeks is preaching something right or wrong is an individual decision, but the fact remains that she will not be silenced by those who try to impugn her life choice. Despite having had her financial aid revoked and facing the social ire of her classmates, Weeks has committed to her porn career, and will continue using it to finance her education.
Weeks, a rising sophomore, will begin her second year at Duke University in August.
