BANGALORE: Former cricketer Sreesanth sure does love to remain at the center of attention.
A year after being banned for life from cricket by the BCCI, Sreesanth recently appeared on the seventh season of the celebrity dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. The new word on the street is that he will be soon be making his debut in Bollywood, and not as a supporting cast member like Vinod Kambli has done a few times; Sreesanth will be playing the role of the leading hero in his first ever Bollywood film.
The film is likely to be the remake of a Malayalam film and will also be directed by a Malayalam film director. It is not altogether surprising as Sreesanth’s elder brother Dipu Santhan is the owner of a music company. One of Sreesanth’s sister, Nivedita, is a TV actress in Kerala while his other sister, Divya is married to Madhu Balakrishnan, a popular South Indian playback singer. So it goes without saying that Sreesanth will have quite the pull in the Malayalam entertainment industry. How much of that pays off in his venture into Bollywood remains to be seen.
The Malayalam film which is to be remade has not been disclosed to the media yet. But Sreesanth’s brother Dipu Santhan has told the media that it was quite a controversial film of its time. He also confirmed that Sreesanth will be playing the lead in this film.
Sreesanth’s brother told the media that the former cricketer is also doing a Tamil film at the moment but his focus will be more towards Bollywood. The yet unnamed film will release in 2015.
