BANGALORE: The gorgeous Deepika Padukone will be seen alongside Amitabh Bachchan in the role of the megastar’s daughter in Shoojit Sircar’s project ‘Piku’.
According to reports, Sircar will be exploring a very complex father and daughter relationship in this film of his with a great cast at his helm. Irrfan Khan will also be seen in a pivotal role in Piku.
Sircar had previously worked with Amitabh in his yet to be released film Shoebite. Sircar is serving as the creating consultant for Amitabh’s upcoming fictional TV series Yudh which will air next month on Sony Entertainment Television.
About his work, the Vicky Donor director said in a statement, “The charisma of Mr. Bachchan, seamless acting of Deepika with the versatile flair of Irrfan Khan and the evergreen Moushami Chaterjee will make ‘Piku’ an experience for me. I am looking forward to this fantastic opportunity of working together with such gifted talent from the industry.”
Piku will be produced by MSM Motion Pictures, Saraswati Entertainment Creations Limited (SECL), Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri’s Rising Sun Films and will go on the studio floors in August of this year.
Amitabh had previously worked with Deepika in Aarakshan, in which she had also played his daughter. Directed by Prakash Jha, the film also starred Saif Ali Khan and Manoj Bajpayee.
Sircar seems to have his hands fully tied at the moment. With Yudh to go on air in a matter of weeks, he has three films lined up in the near future. Other than Piku, he will be making 1911, a period sports drama produced and starring John Abraham. His Hamara Bajaj will star his Viky Donor couple Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam.
Piku will release in theaters on April 30, 2015.
