BANGALORE: Indo Canadian documentary filmmaker Nisha Pahuja will make a Bollywood film only if Shah Rukh Khan acts in it.
The director of the award winning documentary feature The World Before Her, in an interview to the Press Trust of India, made it clear that she had no intention of joining the Bollywood industry unless and only unless Shah Rukh is a part of her debut venture.
“I will never direct a Bollywood film, until and unless it has Shah Rukh Khan in it. Then, surely I will make a Hindi film, otherwise, I have no plans to venture into Bollywood as I like directing real subjects,” she said.
Pahuja had earlier directed two documentaries, Diamond Road, an exploration into the historical, cultural, and socio-political facets of the world’s most intriguing gem and Bollywood Bound, a different outlook into the industry. Her most recent film The World Before Her has won several awards, among them: Best Canadian Feature at the 2012 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and Best Documentary Feature at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival.
The World Before Her is described as ‘Two young women follow completely divergent paths in the new, modernizing India – one of them, Ruhi Singh, wants to become Miss India, the other, Prachi Trivedi, is a fierce Hindu Nationalist prepared to kill and die for her beliefs.’
Pahuja has claimed that she is more interested in doing short grounded and real stories instead of going for a big career in Bollywood. Although, it would be really nice to find out what she has to say, and more importantly do, if Shah Rukh actually goes out on a limb and accepts her offer.
