Uzma Sheikh learns the price of a drink.

WASHINGTON, DC: A young mother in Houston has been arrested for leaving her three year-old toddler son in her car so that she could go clubbing.
Twenty-four year-old Uzma Sheikh was arrested on Friday following an incident the previous night at the Stetsons Nightclub. Sheikh has been charged with endangering a child, and has since posted a $2,000 bond to get herself out of jail.
According to local reports, Sheikh attempted to enter the nightclub on Thursday night with her son, who has not been publicly named, but bouncers at the club’s entrance understandably refused to let her bring the boy inside.
Her solution to this problem was to simply leave the boy in the car. But in south Texas in the middle of summer, that can be a dangerous proposition, especially when local weather reports show that that Thursday’s forecast put temperatures as high as 93 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sheikh allegedly came back to the club’s entrance only a few minutes later, and when asked by the bouncers what she did with her child, she told them that she had left the boy with one of her friends, who came to pick up the child. However, the bouncers – one of whom was a police deputy – distrusted Sheikh’s story, however, and began searching the parking lot for the child. It was then that they found the boy in the car, and immediately took action.
Court documents, obtained by YourHoustonNews.com, accuse Sheikh of “intentionally and knowingly engage in conduct placing child in imminent death, bodily injury, danger of physical impairment and danger of mental impairment by leaving the child unsupervised in a car in the parking lot of a night club during the summer.â€
Sheikh’s next court date has not been released, nor is it known how much jail time she may face if found guilty of the charges.
