Duke University student bares grievances in an interview.

WASHINGTON, DC: Duke University student-turned-adult film star Miriam Weeks may still be immersed in making pornographic films to fund her undergraduate education, but the actress hinted recently that she may be exploring other professional avenues to make some additional cash.
In an interview with Salon, posted on Monday, Weeks indicated that she wants to get into writing both novels and journalistic pieces. The urge to write came after her Time Magazine piece, posted earlier this month, in which she talked about the rising costs of college tuition and the adverse effect that will have on the American education system and, by turn, the US as a whole.
“I do plan to write novels and I would like to continue with journalism and writing on hard-hitting topics and talking about feminism and talking about issues that are really close to me and that I’m passionate about,” Weeks said.
Knox revealed in the aforementioned Time piece that her college aid has been revoked because of the fact that she’s been making so much money from her pornographic pursuits, thus eliminating her from aid contention. Given her newfound fame and media coverage, she hopes to use her prominence to tackle issues important to her.
“It was really hard to deal with at first, but I think I’ve used [the fame] as a platform to talk about other issues,” she told Salon’s Tracy Clark-Flory.
Talking about the intensive media coverage, which she lamented has tried to dig too far into her own personal life, Weeks derided the press for, as she sees it, digging into her personal life to construct a false narrative that really doesn’t exist.
“I think that there’s been an enormous invasion of privacy. The media really tried to dig into my past, which is really disappointing,” said Weeks, who has reportedly said she plans to pursue law as a career in life. “I think that the media tries to portray me as this broken, damaged girl who came from a Catholic background and just went crazy when she went to college [but] I just think I needed to pay for tuition and I’m a sexual person and that’s that.”
Knox did not delve into what her writing pursuits will be specifically, other than to say she would like to continue writing hard news pieces for popular news magazines. As for the novels, there’s no timeframe on when those will be available and what they’ll be about. Given her resume, they could be about the economy, female empowerment, or erotica – take your pick.
Knox is currently spending her summer off from school judging a pornographic Internet show, which will feature contestants vying for the title of the next big porn star. Knox will film a porn movie with the winners, in addition to working on her films to continue paying for her Duke University education.
