To star in Durga Rani Singh directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

BANGALORE: If people think Amitabh Bachchan is the definition of evergreen, they should turn their heads and have a look at acting legend of the Bengali film industry Soumitra Chatterjee who at the age of 79 is taking his first step into Bollywood.
The film that he is going to be a part of will be directed by Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh and will be called Durga Rani Singh. Kangana Ranaut and Irrfan Khan will also supposedly star in the film written by Ghosh himself.
To those familiar with his body of work, Soumitra is the second most revered actor in Tollywood after the late legend Uttam Kumar. His work earned him a Padma Bhushan in 2004 and a Dadasaheb Phalke award in 2012. He has received two National Film Awards and as a theater actor he has received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Soumitra is most famous for his work with the Oscar winning director Satyajit Ray. Together they made 14 films. Soumitra made his debut in the third segment of the worldwide popular Apu Trilogy. Later, he starred as the detective Feluda in Ray’s Sonar Kella and Jai Baba Felunath, films based on detective fiction written by Ray himself.
Ghosh is making a comeback after Kahaani with Durga Rani Singh. The buzz around Tollywood was that Ghosh had become anxious of letting people down after the immense response that Kaahani received.
