BANGALORE: Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s documentary on Bollywood, titled, ‘Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told’ premiered at the 3rd edition of the Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF) on Saturday.
The 81 minutes-long documentary features Amitabh Bachchan, Javed Akhtar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit.
While speaking to the crowd, Mehra explained his thoughts behind making this film possible, “I made this film in a very short time. It was shown at Cannes, and since then, it has been traveling across Europe. I hope you like the first Indian and Asian premiere of the film.”
The film was screened at an open amphitheater. Celebrity guests like Deepti Naval, Amol Gupte, Partho Gupte, Govind Nihlani and Rajit Kapoor were present. Nihalini is the head of the jury of the festival.
Addressing the crowd, Mehra said, “I had the chance to take my film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ to Europe, US and other places in India. But something felt right and I opted for this place. In the years to come the festival will grow and Ladakh will emerge as an important destination in out cinema.”
Deepti Naval spoke to the media about her professional relationship and repertoire with Farooq Sheikh who passed away in the last days of last year. She stated that building a good bond between co-stars isn’t easy, but when it came to Farooq, it was. The actress has done six films and two plays with the late actor.
Mehra’s film received a huge response at the film festival and was lauded by those who were attending. LIFF will be screening a total of 67 films, including international films from Iran and Korea.
