BANGALORE: Lisa Haydon, the Australian born model turned actress who made her debut in Bollywood with Sonam Kapoor’s Aisha, will be replacing Nargis Fakhri in the remake of the 1982 comedy film Shaukeen.
Lisa will be playing the lover of Akshay Kumar in this film which will also star veterans Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher and Annu Kapoor who will be playing the real lead in this film.
The 1982 film is the story of three lecherous old men played by Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A.K. Hangal, who decide to go on an adventure trip in the last days of their lives. They hire a driver (Mithun Chakravorty) who takes them to Goa where his girlfriend, a singer/dancer at a club, lives. Hilarious situations arise as the three men try to hit on Rati Agnihotri, who, unknown to them, is actually the girlfriend of their driver.
The remake directed by Abhishek Kapoor stars Paresh, Kher and Kapoor as the lecherous three with Akshay Kumar playing the role of Mithun and Lisa recently roped in to play the role of Rati Agnihotri. Agnihotri, who was a part of the original cast, also plays a role in this film. If the original is of any indication, then it is the three men who will be playing the lead, lusting after Lisa Haydon.
Lisa Haydon, whose exotic hot looks have earned her quite the recognition in the industry, has slowly evolved with each and every one of her roles. From item numbers and guest appearances (Rascals and Aisha, respectively) she has now moved up to major supporting roles (Queen). Her performance opposite Kangana Ranaut in Queen gained her a lot of praise from the critics. Rajeev Masand wrote about her, “Lisa Haydon is a complete revelation in the role of Rani’s bohemian Parisian pal, investing the character with both sultriness and genuine affection.”
Shaukeen producer Murad Khetani was heard saying, “The way Lisa essayed her role in Queen made her the most suitable choice for our film. She has the required spunk and oomph. The shoot with her will start onApril 16.”
According to The Times of India, Lisa will be soon be reshooting some parts of a song for Shaukeen. The song in question is a dance number and will involve a lot of skin-show. Choreographer Ahmed Khan confirmed the news saying, “Yes, we are reshooting parts of the song in Mauritius. And to ensure it looks more exotic, several changes are being incorporated into the choreography and the set-up.”
