BANGALORE: Kapil Sharma’s new ad for Honda Mobilio does a lot more than sell a car: it’s also a satire on Indian politics.
The ad starts out with Kapil, a car salesman sitting in the showroom, flirting with his colleague when in walks a political leader with his assistant and bodyguards to try out the car. The rest of the ad is just Kapil trying to sell the vehicle using hilarious quips, jest and witticism. Here are some of the lines from the ad:
“Politician: Kya baat hai! Kitni comfortable seats hai!
Kapil: Bilkul Sir! Aur bari baat to yeh hai ki comfortable bhi hai aur aap se koi chin bhi nahin sakta”
“Politician’s assistant: Sahi baat hai Sir! Aap Aage baithenge aur aapka staff piche!
Kapil: Ha sir! Aur pehli baar aisa hoga ke koi neta akela aage nahin badh raha hai, sabko saath leke badh raha hai.”
“Politician: Lekin mein soch raha hu, ke ye gadi lu ya na lu.
Kapil: Are le lijiye na Sir! Dekhiye, car ho ya sarkar, acchi chalni chahiye. Aur yahan to faida dekhiye kitna hai. Bine chunav lade aap ki saath seate confirm pehle se hi confirm hai. Seven-seater gadi hai sir.”
“Kapil: To car done kar de Sir?
Politician: Done! Bill bana do!
Kapil (shyly): Ye wala bill to jaldi se pass ho jayege na Sir?”
The Honda Mobilio, which had already been launched in Indonesia, was released in India on June 23.
