BANGALORE: The trailer for Finding Fanny has been released, giving audiences their first opportunity to take a look at the highly anticipated film set for release later this year.
Finding Fanny is directed by Homi Adajania, in his first directorial venture since Being Cyrus in 2005. The film stars two of the hottest young talents in Bollywood: Arjun Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone, both of whom are coming off the biggest successes of their still-young careers.
Kapoor’s most recent release was 2 States, based on the best-selling novel by Chetan Bhagat. The film broke into the Rs. 100 Crore Club and established Kapoor as one of the most highly sought-after actors of his generation. In addition, Kapoor co-starred with friend and fellow burgeoning superstar Ranveer Singh in Gunday, which was a modest financial success.
But Padukone is in a league of her own these days, and is making her first foray into Bollywood after her record-breaking 2013. Last year, the Indian beauty clocked four movies in the Rs. 100 Crore Club: Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, and Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. The latter film earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, whileChennai Express is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time.
Finding Fanny pairs the two young hotshots with three Bollywood legends: Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, and Pankaj Kapoor. Shah and Kapadia also starred in Being Cyrus, along with Padukone’s frequent co-star, Saif Ali Khan. Ranveer Singh is also said to make a brief appearance in the film.
The film will be in the English language, just as Being Cyrus was. Finding Fanny will release in cinemas around the world on September 12; the trailer for the film can be viewed below:
