BANGALORE: The United Arab Emirates-based BizTV has taken control of Vismayas Max Studios, the production company best known for being owned by Malayalam film actor Mohan Lal.
BizTV, which is part of the larger Aries Group of Companies, has taken the reigns of the venerable production company. With the acquisition, Lal’s production firm will now be known as Aries-Vismayas Max, and according to a press release issued by both parties, will become the largest film and TV studio in all of south India.
“Through Aries-Vismayas Max project we are opening the doors of International Movie/TV/Advertisement market to the India Film /Media community,” said Sohan Roy, Aries Group CEO, in a statement. “There’s a long a way to go.”
Using the global clout of Aries, Roy hopes that it will give the Aries-Vismayas Max label a worldwide reach that it previously never had. The company has an ambitious plan to reach even more viewers than before, and will continue to use Lal, arguably the biggest name in Kerala’s entertainment sector, to keep growing.
Vismayas Max, which is currently headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram and has an office in Kochi, deals with animation, pre- and post-production work, and caters to more than 100 Indian movies in various languages. BizTV Network is a well-known media company with three 3D movies, two Global TV channels and hundreds of international advertisements; the company even has 20 Academy Award-qualified productions to its name.
Although not stated explicitly in the press release, it is understood that this acquisition has already gone into effect, and that the outline given by Roy is already being put into place.
