NEW DELHI: Award winning actor Nana Patekar, who has given cherished films like Khamoshi to the industry, has said in an interview that he used to hate Naseeruddin Shah.
Patekar went on to say that Naseer used to get good roles, respect and awards – which bothered him. He felt lousy about that, and that he lagged behind, speaking in an interview to BBC Asian Networks.
Patekar said he usually wished Naseer to either get injured or unfit so that he could get the kind of roles Naseer does. But God never listened to him and Naseer started getting the stardom and success.
After these comments, however, Patekar was all in praise of Naseer.
“Naseer is a wonderful actor and if I could have even 10% of Naseer’s acting prowess, it would be more than enough for me,” he said in the intriguing interview.
Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar will be seen in Anees Bazmi’s ‘Welcome Back’. But Patekar wishes to do some serious kind of films with Naseer.
Naseer is currently shooting for ‘Finding Fanny’. He had been awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan other than Filmfare award for best actor for Chakra, whereas Patekar has won accolades for his films Krantiveer, Parinda, Angaar and Agni Sakshi.
For film buffs, it would be a treat to watch both talent together in meaningful roles, where they can show their prowess.
