MUMBAI: The Telugu film Anukshanam’s buzz is growing not just for its hard-hitting trailer but also the way the Tollywood hit machine Vishnu Manchu and director Ram Gopal Varma surprised the industry with a never-seen-before strategy to auction their film.
Varma had shocked the traditional distribution world in the Telugu film industry by announcing that he would let people all over India bid for rights to the film, which meant ordinary folks like housewives and students would also be in the reckoning for distributing the film in respective areas, by buying shares in the rights. It presented to people a never-before-seen opportunity to be a part of the biggest entertainment industry in India.
Now, the elated duo is thrilled at their bold move as the film has drawn more than 500 plus bids since its online launch on August 1, according to a press release issued on behalf of Manchu and Varma. The large number of bids have beat the expectations of the filmmakers.
Anukshanam is a psychological thriller, with Manchu playing the role of a police officer who leads the man hunt for a dangerous serial killer.
The film makers are confident that the audience will appreciate the movie for its approach and narration, said the release.
Anukshanam is presented by Mohan Babu Corporation and produced by AV Pictures. Madhu Shalini is playing the role of a television journalist. The movie also stars actress Revathy in an important role.
