MUMBAI: The ‘bad boy’ of Indian cricket, Kerala native Sreesanth, is now in the news with his plans to make an entrance in the Telugu film industry.
The 31-year-old banner cricketer was in Tollywood recently and extended his trip to meet with the biggies of the Telugu film industry, including Madhura Sreedhar, and he plans to meet Suresh Babu, Puri Jagannath and Gunasekhar next, reported the Deccan Chronicle.
“I enjoy learning languages. I understand Telugu completely now and have learnt the basics,” he said in an interview to the Chronicle.
In his earlier stop over at Chennai, he spoke about his Tamil-Telugu bilingual, which will go on the floors by October 3.
Sreesanth says, “Telugu and Tamil are currently my focus. For most of my life, I was brought up in Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru. So I have a good grasp of these industries. Also, the fact that these film industries are musically very rich really fascinated me. Malayalam will obviously always be there, but I can explore that any day. I can play for Kerala any day, but going national is all what matters to me.”
Sreesanth will be debuting as a music director by composing music for all the songs in an upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual film.
“Sreesanth will be composing the songs for the bilingual film Anbukkum Azhage and I will also be a part of the project. I will be singing some of the songs composed by Sreesanth in the movie,” confirms prominent singer and Sreesanth’s brother-in-law, Madhu Balakrishnan.
Besides Madhu, some other popular Tamil and Telugu singers will also be lending their voices to Sreesanth’s compositions in the movie. The composition of the songs is expected to be completed by September and the movie will go on the floors by October.
“I come from a family full of artistes, and I was the only one in sports. But not many know that I would put in close to nine hours composing music in a studio set up at home. Music, movies and art in a way has really helped me and I am enjoying exploring my life,” he says.
Sreesanth was banned from cricket by the Board of Control for Cricket in India last September, and has since then, tried to make his way into the entertainment and film industry. He has been part of reality shows. After participating in popular dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7’, from which he stormed out after he was criticized by judges, he is likely to be seen in another reality show, “Bigg Boss”.
