NEW DELHI: After proving his mettle in Bollywood, Emraan Hashmi is turning to Hollywood. He is making his debut with ‘Tigers’, directed by the Oscar winning Danis Tanovic. The film will have its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) next month.
A co-production between India, France and Britain, the movie has been categorized under the Contemporary World Cinema section of TIFF, which is due to be held September 4-14, according to the official TIFF website.
It’s a vast project helmed by ‘No Man’s Land’ famed Bosnian director Tanovic. It also contains an international list of producers including Anurag Kashyap, Guneet Monga, Prashita Chaudhary, Kshitij Chaudhary, Cedomir Kolar, Marc Baschet, Andy Paterson and Cat Villiers, while Prerna Saigal has edited it. The concept of the film is to “explore Pakistan’s fascination for Western drugs”.
In ‘Tigers’, Emraan plays Ayaan, a young salesman, who is devastated after knowing the ill effects of the infant formula he is peddling and challenges the system.
Other than Emraan Hashmi, the film features some prominent actors including Geetanjali Thapa, Danny Huston, Khalid Abdalla, Adil Hussain, Maryam D’Abo, Satyadeep Misra, Heino Ferch, Sam Reid, Supriya Pathak and Vinod Nagpal.
Emraan Hashmi has been in the news for his upcoming film Mr. Natwarlal and a tiff between him and his uncle, Mahesh Bhatt.
