NEW DELHI: Imran Khan, who’s have been on paternity leave, is back to films: with an on-screen romance with Kangana Ranaut in Katti Batti.
His fans will see him in the new film playing a role of a live-in partner. After giving back to back flops like Ek Mai Aur Ek Tu, Gori Tere Pyar Main, Bin Tere and Matroo ki Bijli ka Mandola, he is back with a concept that is prominent in today’s generation.
Katti Batti is a contemporary love story that’s being directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by UTV Disney. It’s written by Anushul Singhal. The story revolves around Payal (Kangana Ranaut) and Maddy (Imran Khan) set in urban India. It talks about the problems one faces in a live-in relationship.
It shows the journey of Payal who finds out that she is pregnant and the child is Maddy’s. Payal comes from an elite family who has modern as well as unconventional thinking regarding marriage and motherhood whereas Maddy is a middle class guy from Pune. She steps out when Maddy thinks of stepping into marriage.
Though the concept is more like Salaam Namaste starring Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan, Nikhil discards that idea and says that Salaam Namaste was set up in Australia while Katti Batti is about two people who meet in India.
While Imran was enjoying his ‘sabbatical’ leave, Kangana earned more fame with the film ‘Queen’ though ‘Revolver Rani’ could not garner much audience attention.
