NEW DELHI: Actors today are not mere entertainers. They look out also to do their bit for welfare of society.
Shahrukh Khan, among other global celebrities, now aims to spread awareness in society to help fight against crime. He has been selected as an Ambassador of Interpol’s turn back crime campaign. He will be lending his voice to spread the message that could help society to respect law and fight crime.
The actor joins Jackie Chan as an ambassador for the campaign, which has already garnered support from public figures including footballer Lionel Messi, Formula 1 racing drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen in addition to law enforcement agencies around the world.
The campaign aims at making people aware that the unrelated crimes are often interlinked. Drugs trafficking, people smuggling, counterfeiting, cybercrime, kidnapping, crimes against children and corruption are in fact often interconnected. The profits earned from one crime are used as funds for another.
Speaking about the opportunity to India Today, Shahrukh Khan says, “It’s a very special honor to be a part of INTERPOL’s Turn Back Crime Campaign as an Ambassador. We all should believe in this maxim and in whatever way possible resolve not to let unjust people who might threaten us with criminal activity make us fear them. Because I believe we can, we should, and we must stand together against the few who commit crimes against any human being, in whatever form or guise these crimes might take.â€
