MUMBAI: The makers of the Malayalam film “Double Barrel” have been tight lipped in revealing any aspect of the film. However, the latest rumour has it that actor Fahadh Faasil has opted out of the film and Tamil actor Arya will replace him.
Arya has said that he has read the script and the role offered to him was a significant one. He is, however, yet to give his nod for it.
If Arya acts in ‘Double Barrel’ it will be his third direct non-Tamil film after ‘Urumi’ (Malayalam) and ‘Varudu’ (Telugu). In Tamil the actor is shuttling between the sets of ‘Purambokku’ and ‘Yatchan’ directed by S.P.Jananathan and Vishnuvardhan, respectively. His upcoming action thriller ‘Meagamann’ directed by Magizh Thirumeni is in the post-production stage.
“All the stars share equal screen space and each character has got their own identity. This is a light-hearted comedy entertainer revolving around this gang,” says Lijo Jose Pellisery, director of the movie.
Lijo had earlier directed the 2013 romantic musical satire film “Amen”, which had Fahadh, Indrajith, Swathi Reddy, Natasha Sahgal, Rachana Narayanankutty and Kalabhavan Mani in pivotal roles. It was well received and was one of the most successful films of the year.
The director also added that all the characters will be seen in a new get-up and the film will be something which he has never tried before. Prashant Pillai will compose the music for the film, which is expected to go on floors on July 20.
The film, which is set to be shot mostly in Goa, will see multiple stars playing prominent roles. Actors such as Prithviraj, Indrajith, Asif Ali, Sunny Wayne, Swathi Reddy and Rachana Narayanankutty play central roles. Also invited is Isha Sharvani. As soon as she finished shoot for Amal Neerad’s Iyobinte Pustakam, she was signed up for Double Barrel.
The film is being produced jointly by August Cinemas Pvt Ltd and Amen Movie Monastery.
