The fair will include free vision, hearing and dental exams, and bone density scans, said Mayur Modi, its coordinator, in a press release.
Among other tests available are cardiology, endocrinology, ENT, gastroenterology, hematology-oncology, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pediatrics, psychiatrics, radiology, rheumatology and podiatry, the release said.
There will be a blood donation drive the same day. The fair will also provide information for enrolling in Medicaid in Maryland.
“This free, large health fair is open to all, and is especially geared towards serving the uninsured and the underinsured,” Modi said in a statement. “Medical specialists from several fields, state and county health agencies, and a diverse array of voluntary charitable organizations” will participate in the fair, he said.
This fair is supported by various ethnic organizations in the Washington, DC, area, including the Philippines Nurse Association, the Chinese Culture and Community Center, the Community Clinic Inc., Silver Spring, the Asian American Center Of Frederick and the Asian American Health Initiatives, Montgomery County, Modi said.
Among the corporate sponsors of the fair is Walgreens, which will donate 400 free flu shots, according to the gurudwara’s website.
GNFA, which was founded in 1970, is one of the oldest gurudwaras in the Washington, DC, area. It is located at 12917 Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring, MD, roughly seven miles from the Silver Spring Metro Station.
