BANGALORE: During the initial days after its launch, Airtel was less recognized for its network coverage or internet connectivity. It was rather the music of A R Rahman that made Bharti Airtel a talking point in India. Even when people refused to buy Airtel SIM cards, their phones were set with Airtel ringtone.
Now, in the age of live streaming and internet radio, Airtel has once again done magic with music. Airtel’s new app ‘Wynk Music’, which was launched a few days back in Android and iOS platforms, have already attracted more than 1 lakh users.
The official website of Wynk Music claims that the app has the largest collection of Indian and International music that crosses more than 1.5 million songs. Users can live stream songs free of cost, and if they intend to download it, all they have to do is to subscribe for a month by paying Rs. 99.
The largest beneficiaries of the new Airtel service are the other mobile subscribers. According to IBNLive, almost 50% of the current subscribers are users of competitor SIM cards.
Wynk Music offer users unlimited ad free music streaming. They can select music based on moods, artists and genres, and later create a customized playlist. The app also features a 24×7 ad free Internet Radio service.
Wynk Music store gives users the option to download songs and albums in .mp3 format so that they can later set it as their ringtone. Airtel subscribers can set favorite songs as their caller ring back tone by paying Rs. 15. They can also get a monthly subscription for Rs.29.
After installing the Airtel Wynk Music app users can set their app UI in English or Hindi. The app can be used in smartphones and tablets that are connected to the internet via 2G, 3G or WiFi.
Airtel is at present offering a month’s free subscription to all users of Wynk Music.
