Rapper Snoop Dogg attends Hindu wedding in Chicago, ‘gate crash’ style

Bride Neesha Ghadiali had not planned this, though.

NEW YORK: When Joseph Scheller tied the knot with Neesha Ghadiali in a traditional Hindu wedding at the Hard Rock Hotel in Downtown Chicago, he would have expected a ride on a horse or an elephant, decorated desi style, as part of the rituals. Instead the newly-weds got an even bigger surprise: banter and photos with rapper Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., better known as Snoop Dogg, or in his latest avatar as Snoop Lion.

The rapper was staying at the hotel while in town to perform at the North Coast Music Festival, and when he came to the hotel, he was spotted by the wedding photographer and the groom’s mother – who gushed that she was Snoop Dogg’s biggest fan.

Allusion Photography, hired to photograph the wedding, said that Snoop Dogg, wearing a purple and gold jumpsuit, when approached to attend the wedding and wish the newly-weds, accepted graciously and congratulated the couple and temporarily joined the festivities, taking pictures with the couple, which he later tweeted and posted to Instagram, reported the local affiliate of ABC News.

Another station, Local 10, quoted the wedding photographer, Chris Seibel, saying: “It was a Hindu wedding, beautiful wedding. Sitting by the window, a couple big armored vehicles pulled up. They were BMWs, you knew something was up. You knew a celebrity was coming in.”

He added: “The groom’s mom, she’s a huge fan, she just grew up with him. She’s like, ‘I’ll do whatever it takes, you got to get him in on the wedding,” adding, “Snoop was laughing so much because my bride and groom wouldn’t get close to him. They were so nervous.”

The picture Snoop Dogg, who converted to the Rastafari movement a couple of years ago, posted on Instagram, with the message ‘Jus Got Married’ went viral, getting over 30,000 hits.
