BANGALORE: The Japanese mobile manufacturer, Panasonic, launched Eluga S, a selfie-priority smartphone under the company’s Eluga series, priced at Rs.11,190. The smartphone will hit stores in India by the end of November.
Eluga S is the first smartphone from Panasonic to feature the newly developed Blink Play technology which enables users to capture selfies with a blink of their eye, giving a countdown time of 3 seconds to pose for the photo. The company has offered 5 MP front camera for facilitating users with high-quality selfies.
Eluga S has a 5 inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Though the new dual SIM smartphone runs on the Android KitKat 4.4.2 version out of the box, Panasonic has customized the user interface with the companies Home UI platform.
The device is powered by a 1.4GHz Octa-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. Other than the 5 MegaPixel front camera, Panasonic Eluga S also has an 8 MP rear camera with autofocus and flash. The rear camera can record FullHD videos at 30 Frames per second.
Panasonic Eluga S has an inbuilt storage capacity of 8GB, expandable up to 32GB using a MicroSD card. The phone is just 7.9mm thick and is built in unibody, which means Panasonic had to compromise with the battery. Eluga S is backed up with a 2100mAh non-removable battery, which is a shortcoming for a phone that features a few power consuming sensors.
The Panasonic Eluga S will be available in Black and White colours.
Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said, “We are sure that Panasonic’s Eluga smartphone range has certainly raised the bar of standard to a great level and has the potential to succeed in the Indian market. This is the third phone is the Eluga series which defines our willingness to embrace new technology in a market like India. As we launch new devices, we will continue to innovate for our customers.”
Panasonic had earlier discontinued the Eluga series of smartphones, but recently reintroduced the series in the Indian market.
