BENGALURU: Aditya Agarwal, the Vice-President of Dropbox, has joined the Board of India’s largest online retailer, Flipkart.
Sachin Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Flipkart, while announcing the appointment of Agarwal said, “Aditya is one of the best technology minds in the Silicon Valley today. With Facebook, Cove and now Dropbox, he is associated with building and driving some of the most innovative technology product companies in the world.”
Agarwal teamed up with Dropbox after its acquisition of Cove, a technology firm that he co-founded, which focused on group collaboration and communication. After the acquisition of Dropbox he was appointed as its vice-president of engineering, overseeing the new products, infrastructure, operations and platform.
Bansal added that the expertise of Agarwal will lead the way for Flipkart to becoming one of the “world-class” e-retailer companies in the world and first of its kind from India.
Commenting on the new position, Agarwal said, “Technology drives some of the biggest innovations in this world. I’m very excited to join Flipkart, which is building technology that can change the retail landscape of a country as complex as India – it is an opportunity that has massive potential.”
Flipkart had earlier in the week made some changes in the top management level by appointing a new CFO and shuffling its core team.
Flipkart had announced on Wednesday the induction of two new members Rishi Vasudev and Parameswaran Balakrishnan as vice president of retail and vice president of supply chain, respectively.
